CASA’s constitution

The name of the society shall be “Castor and Ailsworth Society of Art".

The aim of the society is to promote the enjoyment and development of art, in all its many forms, within the benefice of Castor and the wider community.

The society shall be run by a committee of not less than 6 persons, from which its officers shall be elected.

The officers of the society shall be the chairman, the general secretary, the programme secretary and the treasurer.

Other society members may be co- opted pro tem as a need arises.

The duty of the committee shall be to promote the Interests of the society, to organise its activities and especially to endeavour to pursue the wishes of the membership as promulgated at the AGM and other informal occasions. Any Art and Craft exhibition staged by the society as part of and under the auspices of, St. Kyneburgh Annual Patronal Festival , will be open for all residents of the benefice of St. Kymeburgh to exhibit irrespective of whether a member of CASA or not.

The society shall be non-profit making but the committee shall be required to maintain a sufficient sum to meet any expenses as arising. No committee member may receive any remuneration for serving. The annual membership fee will be announced and agreed at the AGM. Payment will be due at the AGM or as soon as possible thereafter. All members will be reminded renewal is due and a membership card and receipt Issued upon payment. Non-renewal will result in the name being removed from the roll after 9 months and no further publications or notices sent.

The officers of the society will report to the membership annually at the AGM and especially the treasurer will account for all income and expenditure for the year ending 31st October. Each treasurer’s report will include a statement of assets held by the society , as agreed with the committee.

All non- fiscal assets of the society will be held by the committee in common and no acquisition or disposal will be undertaken without unanimous agreement of the whole committee.

Dissolution of the society will only be undertaken following an opportunity by the whole registered membership to make known to the committee their views and any final decision will only be taken at an EGM called solely for that purpose. Any decision made will require a simple majority vote at the EGM . Distribution of any funds and / or assets will again be made following a simple majority vote.
